Christopher Paolini
Christopher Paolini (25) is an American writer and the author of the best selling Inheritance Cycle. He lives in Montana, where he was raised by his parents Kenneth Paolini and Talita Hodgkinson. He also has a sister, Angela.
He was home schooled and graduated from high school at the age of fifteen. Following his graduation from high school, he decided not to go to college yet and started work on Eragon and its sequels.
Paolini’s literary influences include at least Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, the epic poem Beowulf and other fantasy literature. His works have been criticized for drawing much on Lord of the Rings and Star Wars.
Paolini has to date authored two books: Eragon and [Eldest] with the third book (Brisingr) scheduled in September 2008. All of these books belong to his best selling Inheritance Cycle (formerly Inheritance Trilogy).

August 5th, 2008 at 11:24 pmyour books are great and though very long they are enjoyable. Do you really think its necessary to put swearing in your stories?
August 14th, 2008 at 7:41 pmWow, I must say, absolutely incredible. First of all, as a fellow homeschooler, I must say that I am not surprised about the genius that has sprung from our “race”, Also I have always loved writing and reading, and my fifteenth birthday just passed. I am overwhelmed with the incredible detail that is stored within the pages of both Eragon and Eldest. I have listened to the audio books several times and each time grasped a little more of the depth of each word and phrase. THere is such a wealth of knowledge, and valuable lessons to be learned by reading these books, When you read the Eragon books you aren’t just reading a good fantasy novel. You are gaining an experience, you have opened the pages of book that hopefully will leave you contemplative, and changed. I have an infinite amount of respect and awe for the Author, and the books, they have been a constant source of enjoyment for me, and I look forward to the 3rd and 4th books.
p.s. Whoever made the movie should be taken out and horsewhipped, it was a shameful, and ridiculous version of what could have been an incredible movie. I hope that someone else will “take up the reins”, and make another movie, one that will at least do the book a smidgen of justice.
August 21st, 2008 at 8:38 pmAlso, about the last dragon egg, I think perhaps, since it has already been established that it is male, that the dragon will hatch for a Female rider, perhaps even our dear elven lady, Arya
August 21st, 2008 at 8:41 pm???
Who knows, we can only wait and see!
Hey Bethany Bell, I don’t know what your problem is. The Eragon movie was good and my sister thought Eragon was hot and I hope the last egg doesn’t hatch for Arya. Bring in someone else.
August 21st, 2008 at 8:46 pmNo. You’re completely wrong, Jenny. The film was absolutely terrible; I always considered Eragon close to Tolkien standard, if not better, and Lord of The Rings was one of the worlds all time favourite series. Just look at how amazing each film is. Then there’s the Inheritance Cycle. And it is definately just as good. But they created a ridiculous film that was a PG.
When I think of Eragon and Eldest I don’t see stupid babyish dragons with an ignorant teenage rider, a film built for the entertainment of eight year olds who are still stuck on Jacqueline Wilson’s ridiculous ‘girl-world’ novels. I see a really dark world, and a dangerous one. One where a young rider has to face terrors beyond our wildest imaginations. It’s brutal but beautiful. And the film completely ruined that.
I agree with Bethany completely.
August 24th, 2008 at 8:15 amWell Chiyeko, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. And mine is you cannot compare Lord of the Rings and the Inheritance Cycle. They are too different. Also, I did not consider Sapheira a babyish dragon and if you’ll remember Eragon does some stupid things in the book. You also have to remember that in a book you can take as long as you want and put as much as you want in. A film only has so much time to put the story together.
August 24th, 2008 at 11:57 pmI completely agree with Chiyeko and Bethany Bell, the film did not do the book one ounce of justice. They (the film makers) have made it very difficult for themselves to every make a movie out of Eldest, as they have missed out so many small but significant details that are compulsory if you want Eldest to make any sense! I do agree that everyone is entitled 2 their own opinion though! I wish CP would do a UK tour, i’d love 2 get my books signed!!!
August 28th, 2008 at 9:46 amI don’t think it would be hard for them to make Eldest into a movie and didn’t Paolini have to know what they were doing when he allowed them to make Eragon into a movie? So you got to think, if he approved of it that means he liked it.
August 29th, 2008 at 4:36 pmIf you are out there Christopher Paolini please give that green dragon egg to Orik and give us a rider that is a Knurla.
August 31st, 2008 at 12:16 amorik has to get married and the knurlas have 2 pick a new king as well

September 1st, 2008 at 5:29 amthat’s a relief! Hate to have a sister named Thorn
September 1st, 2008 at 8:56 pmTo shurtogal:
September 3rd, 2008 at 10:29 amwhy does orik have to marry?
I wonder if Eragon and Arya actually gt together I dont think so but what do you guys think I thought it was really funny when Eragon and Saphira get drunk and Eragon makes a fool of himself. Im waiting excitedly for Brisingr and book four. ps. what are you going to call boook four and what color will it be, I think it should be white. No, that would be t. Good luck on the fourth book
September 6th, 2008 at 3:28 pmBook 4 will probably be green, atleast that’s my theory. Becasue if you think about it, book 1 has Saphira and its blue, book2 has Thorn and it’s red, book 3 has Glaegyr(?) and it’s gold and black so book 4(in my reasoning) should be the green dragon and it should be green. What do you think?
September 8th, 2008 at 3:19 pmI like your reasoning iloveme, the 4th book should be green or the color of Galbtorix’s dragon.
September 8th, 2008 at 3:20 pmPaolini,
September 9th, 2008 at 6:16 pmDo you approve of the changes they made in the Eragon movie and do you like it?

September 24th, 2008 at 5:51 amcp is good, very good
paolini-elda is very good,
though i doubt he reads these forums, and if he does, i request, with great respect for his wonderful creativity and ingenuity, that he STOP READING THE SILLY FORUM AND WRITE!!!
I deeply apologize if paolini-elda has taken any offense at my statement, but i hold to it.
September 24th, 2008 at 5:58 amhey shwoozar, you contradicted yourself. You said everyone is entitled to their own opinion but you said my opinion was wrong. To you it might be wrong but to me its right and think of it this way. You said the movie puts the books in a bad way well if you really didn’t like the movie doesn’t it make you like the books even more?
September 24th, 2008 at 11:24 amI am 34 years old and I have to say that your books have take to a very magic place that I enjoy very much. You are very talented young man, keep up the work. We all need some magic in our lives. Thank you.
September 26th, 2008 at 8:49 amcorrection: your book’s take me to a magical place.
September 26th, 2008 at 8:55 amNo one knows the true color of the kings dragon. Only one that knows is Christopher. The dragon the king has now is not his. Also I do not care what COLOR book four is. I just want to know who the new rider is. Also how deep dose Eragon and Saphira bury the king. I hope it is miles into the core of the earth. I also hope that the dragon race continues to live on. That is a story in it’s own.
September 30th, 2008 at 11:25 pmthe true color of the kings dragon is black, MORON
October 14th, 2008 at 8:38 pmWell thank you all for your comments. I hope you will be pleased by my next book although I cannot tell you what the name is. Thank you.

September 16th, 2009 at 5:55 amI thought that the moivie was an OK movie, some parts were cheesy sometimes even cheap, but they did a great job of getting the MAIN part of the story right, and a great job also at animating Saphira. That how I always thought she would look…
These books are awesome and I cannot wait for book 4 to come out. Mr. Paolini- you are simply a fantastic author and I hope that you continue to write great books. I thought that Brisingr was awesome, with such a thick plot and interesting story.
I hope that after you finish The Inheritance Cycle that you will continue to write great books Keep up the good work!
